The break is totally over. 아리랑 고개를 드디어 넘어간다!
From city skies to cinemas to amusement rides, BTS is once again taking over. They’ve launched Netflix titles, a sold-out world tour, even an instant noodle brand—it’s hard to keep up. But in late March came the big moment that cut through all the noise: the arrival of the album.
The world held its breath on March 20th, as the clock struck midnight. Millions of ARMYs huddled at late hours of the night as time inched towards the album drop. BTS comebacks always feel hushed. Charged with anticipation. And then—an explosion: from concerts to interviews to Weverse posts to drone shows, it’s hard to keep up. As BTS’ first group music release since “Proof,” the band’s anthology album from 2022, after a three-year, nine-month hiatus, the band is breaking records left and right.
From becoming the first and only album in history to surpass 4 million pre-orders in just one week to raising the all-time record for biggest first-day streams for a K-Pop album in Apple Music history while also earning 110 million first-day streams on the global Spotify chart, BTS’ “ARIRANG” has become the biggest K-Pop debut of all time.
Whatever you expected the new BTS album to sound like, guess again.
“Honestly, it’s gonna shock the world.” Diplo teased in February. ARIRANG’s success—another track-breaking record on their track record—holds little shock factor. He described the project as “the craziest album ever,” adding, “For sure, it’s gonna be the biggest thing I’ve ever done.” But can this success be merely credited to their literal army of fans / sheer amount of fans (a week before release, it surpassed 4.5 million pre-saves before anyone heard the album)?
What’s shocking is how risky “ARIRANG” is. The album doesn’t play it safe with more pop hits like “Butter” or “Dynamite.” It’s not an understatement to call it experimental: There is a 30-second sample of “Arirang”. A minute and 30 seconds of a bell ringing. A song with heavy vocoder usage. And the album’s first half is entirely comprised of five back-to-back hip-hop songs.
How can ARIRANG be described? Familiar, but fresh. This is truly Bangtan 2.0. They’ve leveled up. BTS builds off of their past music while diverging into new territory (which, if you’re familiar with their music, is kind of their brand). “It seems like our chapter two, but it’s still BTS. The quality is on another level,” Suga shared in the album’s Studio Notes.
ARIRANG shows BTS’ growth as an artist that challenges themselves to experiment with various styles, touching so many different genres, with skill. “They could have easily made a full album of radio-friendly songs, curated to not push the envelope too much and reheat their most successful songs,” an ARMY shares via Twitter. “What ended up on it was very unexpected.”
Making of the Album
BTS officially came back together in July to start working on the new album. “After we finished our military service… we were immediately kidnapped,” RM joked. We went to the States right away. The idea was to go with a fresh mindset and start working on the album in the U.S.” The band planned a tight turnaround of 9 months, during which they made around 120 tracks, from which they selected 14. “When we compiled the songs, it was hard for all seven of us to agree on each song—we have different preferences and tastes.”
They started as a team and will stay as a team…throughout every song on the album.
All fourteen tracks have all seven members’ voices, with no solos or subunits. “We all treasure BTS more than we treasure each one of us separately. We debuted as a group, so I think that’s the core identity that we have,” says V in a GQ interview.
Here’s a breakdown of BTS’ new album: ARIRANG.
While Bangtan has successfully earned their spot in “Pop,” they start the album proclaiming their roots as Korean people.

Album Title: ARIRANG
Anyone of Korean descent has heard the folk song, “Arirang.” I grew up humming “Arirang” around my Halmoni’s kitchen, without understanding its significance/ while the song’s meaning passed right over my head.
What makes BTS, BTS? After three years apart, what remained the same for Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook? Their Korean identity.
And “Arirang” connects BTS to the bigger story of Koreans as a people. The Arirang Animation Trailer: “What is your love song?” was “inspired by the story of seven young Koreans at Howard University, as documented in The Washington Post on May 8, 1896—some of whom captured the first known audio recordings of Koreans in Washington, D.C., on July 24 of that same year. As a modern reimagining, this work draws upon the profound cultural significance of these historical records, which preserve the authentic voices of young Korean men and the first-ever recording of “Arirang.””
Arirang also has “a loving, deep meaning,” RM shared. The word encompasses the many messages BTS wanted to express to ARMY which boiled down to one emotion: longing for a loved one.
Must-listen Songs
Every track on this album is impressive. Teeming with meaning and artistically risky, these songs are infectious—but they’re not pop pleasers or easy hits. Elevated from “Butter” or “Dynamite”—“ARIRANG” doesn’t get old.
The opening track, “Body to Body,” captures BTS’s starting point in a grand entrance. It can be described as the 2026 version of the Korean folk song Arirang, meshing traditional Korean culture with the current wave of K-pop. “By naturally blending in a part of the Arirang melody in the latter half,” the band wanted to reveal their identity as a team that “began in Korea, rooted in Korea.”
The song couldn’t be more perfect to perform. Imagine ARMYs all over the world singing the “Arirang” melody in unison, filling the stadium with Korean pride.

- Title Track: SWIM
“SWIM”—the most minimal track—is not a song that instantly grabs your attention, but it has a long lasting impact and grows on you.”
“When I first heard the song, I felt it had a clean and smooth charm, much like Pyongyang cold noodles,” RM shared. “The more I listened to it, the more I felt a desire to “swim along with it.”
Bangtan is known for a certain kind of image—to show grand performances. But BTS chose “SWIM” as the song that was most fitting for their current selves. The track expresses the members “swimming” each day as they counted down their days in the military. The song can be interpreted in many ways—it can sound like a love song, or a push to keep moving forward through the monotony of repetitive days—it’s not fixed into just one thing.
In its first week, BTS simultaneously held the entire top 10 on US iTunes with versions of “SWIM”. “SWIM” also earned the biggest debut for any 2026 song on Spotify, surpassing Harry Styles’ “Aperture”.

Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía wrote and produced “Hooligan’s” unique beat. When the band first heard the track’s impressive sound, they thought, how did they make it that way? Jungkook played a big role in this song by coming up with the choral melody and keyword “Hooligan.”
Hip hop and trap track “2.0” expresses BTS’ refreshing attitude entering a new phase with their unique Bangtan twist. In collaboration with producer Mike Will Made-It, the song’s sound is certainly “brand new.”

For the Fans
Before the entirety of “ARIRANG,” BTS pre-released “ARMYRANG,” a message to their fans, listed as the album’s 15th and 16th tracks. “This album reflects the culmination of our journey today as BTS and defines us on our own terms. We’ve put so much love, hoping these songs will stay in your hearts for a long time.” BTS dedicated their album to ARMY, “who have always stayed by our side.”
It wasn’t easy for BTS, releasing an album with only new songs after so long. “It feels odd and emotional and happy. We’ve waited for this moment for so long—finally, finally.”
After almost 4 years, welcome back BTS.

How to Get the Best BTS Arirang Tour Tickets Without Paying a Fortune
All official tickets sold out within hours of going on sale. Every path forward runs through the resale market, but with the right approach, you can still get excellent seats at a reasonable price.
Step 1: Choose the Right City
Where you go matters more than anything else. Demand varies significantly across tour stops, and the price differences are large enough to justify travel.
The most affordable US dates on the resale market right now are Tampa (starting around $90–$130), Foxborough near Boston (around $110–$120), and Baltimore (around $148). Las Vegas and Stanford sit in the $158–$215 range. The most expensive stops are Arlington (starting at $354), Chicago ($259), and Toronto ($395).
If traveling to a cheaper city saves you $150–$200 per ticket and you’re buying two, the math on a short flight or train ride often works in your favor.
Step 2: Use the Right Platforms
Shop across all three major resale marketplaces before committing: StubHub, SeatGeek, and Vivid Seats. Prices for the same show can vary between platforms by $50 or more. SeatGeek’s Deal Score feature is particularly useful because it tells you whether a given ticket is good value relative to other seats in the same section, which cuts through the noise when you’re comparing dozens of listings.
Step 3: Understand the Stage Before Picking Seats
The Arirang tour uses a 360-degree in-the-round stage placed at the center of the field, with fans surrounding it on all sides. There is no traditional front of the stage. BTS rotates to face every section throughout the show, which means the price premium on floor seats directly next to the stage is largely inflated. Upper-bowl seats facing the center of the floor often deliver comparable or better sightlines at a fraction of the cost. Prioritize sections at mid-level angles to the center rather than the floor perimeter.
Step 4: Time Your Purchase
Prices typically spike in the two to three weeks before a show as buyers rush to lock in plans. They often soften again in the final 48 to 72 hours, when sellers who have not moved their tickets start cutting prices to avoid being stuck with them. If you are flexible and comfortable with some risk, monitoring prices in that final window can yield real savings, particularly for upper-bowl inventory, which tends to stay available longer than floor seats.
Step 5: Check for Official Inventory Before Assuming It’s Gone
Ticketmaster has released batches of additional inventory for several North American dates after the initial sellout. Venue holds and production holds are routinely released in the weeks before a show. Before paying resale markup, check Ticketmaster directly for your target date. Official face-value tickets occasionally surface with no warning.
