Squid Game is Poised to Win Big During 2022 Award Season

It is not a surprise that Squid Game is one of the most talked-about contenders for the 2022 awards season. Since its debut on September 17, 2021, Squid Game became the #1 show in 94 countries on Netflix including the US. It became the most-watched Netflix show of all time by October 2021, and it is still the most-watched Netflix show of all time.

As the 2021/2022 awards season started, Squid Game got many major awards nominations and it has won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor (Oh Yeong Su), and a Gotham Award win for breakthrough series so far.

With earning 4 impressive nominations including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series from SAG awards as the first non-English language series and the first Korean series, a lot of critics are now saying Squid Game would be a top contender for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards 2022. If it does, it will make history being the first non-English language series and the first Korean series to win an award at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
