From a fiercely competitive field of exceptional works and actors in each category, the winners of Korea’s most prestigious awards ceremony have been unveiled. Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the Baeksang Arts Awards was founded in 1965 to advance Korean popular culture and arts while uplifting artist morale.
Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum, who have co-hosted the Baeksang Arts Awards since 2019, returned as hosts once again this year. Both 12.12: The Day and Moving shone brightly, each clinching three awards, including the prestigious Grand Prize.
Exhuma, which drew the first-ever ten million viewers in Korea in the occult genre, claimed 4 awards, including Best Director, Best Actress, Best New Actor, and Best Technical Achievement (Sound) Award, thus attaining the honor of the most awarded film at the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards. The evening’s standout moment was when Lee Do-hyun made a surprise appearance, while currently enlisted in the military, eliciting joy from everyone, particularly his girlfriend, Lim Ji-yeon, as he accepted the Best New Actor award for his role in Exhuma.
