Who is Lisa and What Is “Lalisa”
Lalisa Manoban (aka “Lisa”) is a 24-year-old Thai rapper, singer, dancer, and model, best known as the youngest member of the global Kpop sensation, Blackpink. She is currently the most followed Kpop artist on Instagram with 64.9 million followers.
Last month, Lisa dropped her long awaited first solo album, “Lalisa.” Since its release, the album has been a spectacular success, breaking record after record!

Smashing Record after Record
On October 8, 2021, Guinness World Records announced that Lisa broke two world records with her solo debut of “Lalisa.” The music video for Lalisa, released on September 10, 2021, broke the world record for the most viewed music video by a solo artist in 24 hours with 73.6 million views in 24 hours. “Lalisa” broke the previous record of 65.2 million views set by Taylor Swift’s Me in 2019.
“Lalisa” also set a new record for the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a solo Kpop artist. This record was previously held by her own bandmate Rosé’s solo debut track, “On The Ground,” which was released on March 12th and gained 41.6 million views in 24 hours.
Additionally, for the first time in history, Lisa became the first female Kpop act to chart Number 1 as the best-selling rap song in America. “Money,” a B-side song that had accompanied the title song “Lalisa,” has been the surprise mega-hit, rising to the Number 1 spot on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. “Money” also crushed another record this week becoming the fastest song to surpass 100 million streams on Spotify in just over a month.
Lisa made her TV debut on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon shortly after the release of Lalisa. Before she performed “Lalisa” on stage, Fallon noted in his monologue that the first NFL game of the season had “over 20 million” viewers watching the game and joked that “Lisa from Blackpink heard that and she was like, ‘20 million views? That’s so cute.”
Star-Studded Collaboration
On October 24, 2021, the music video for the song “SG” was released, in which Lisa performs with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Megan Thee Stallion. Lisa sets the dance floor on fire with an alluring dance performance. The video currently has 46 million views! Go check it out!
