Best of Korea is joining the ‘Gold Open’ effort to give Korean American film Minari a chance at a blockbuster opening week! #GoldOpen is a movement that coordinates theater buyouts and other community-engagement strategies in an effort to raise the power of Asian American films and filmmakers in Hollywood. It helped propel Asian-American films such as Crazy Rich Asians and Searching to box-office success and opened the eyes of Hollywood executives to the commercial viability of Asian American films.
Tickets are limited for this free at home screening, and to give everyone a chance to win, we invite our readers to sign up during a two day window, after which time we will randomly choose 75 people to take part in our free viewing of Minari.
Director Lee Isaac Chung’s film Minari first premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and won both the US Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and the US Dramatic Audience Award. It has been nominated for a Golden Globe and is feeling great Oscar buzz. We hope you will join our effort to show Hollywood that Asian American movies are box office gold!
