Two Korean films – Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice and Netflix’s animated feature KPop Demon Hunters – have each picked up three nominations for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, marking one of the strongest years yet for Korean film and animation at the ceremony.
According to the official announcement on Dec. 8, No Other Choice is nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, where it will face off against frontrunner One Battle After Another, a buzzy satirical action-comedy that also scored multiple acting nominations. Park’s film is additionally in the running for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language, competing with international favorites such as Brazil’s The Secret Agent.
Lead star Lee Byung-hun earned a nod for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his performance in No Other Choice. Lee is the first Korean actor to be nominated for a Golden Globe for a leading role in film. He is nominated alongside Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio, both recognized for One Battle After Another, as well as Ethan Hawke, cited this year for Blue Moon.
On the animation side, Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters is nominated for Best Motion Picture – Animated, going up against major studio titles like Disney’s Zootopia 2 and the European critical favorite Arco. The film also secured nominations for Best Original Song and the newly created Box Office Achievement Award, underscoring its strong global streaming reach.
KPop Demon Hunters can be seen on Netflix.
No Other Choice is opening in theaters on December 25, 2025.
